Heading to a festival this year? Here’s how I’m styling myself for the two UK festivals I’m heading to this summer. The key is to layer up, and prepare for all weather! Whether it’s your first festival ever (if so, check out my eco festival guide and festival pack guide) or you’re a routine camper, here’s some festival outfit inspiration that makes the most of re-wearing and re-styling pieces from Very.
3 Days, 3 Festival Outfits

Day 1: Sunshine
Day 2: Overcast
Day 3: Rain
Most festivals I’ve been to are three-day long affairs with bands, comedy, and too many food stalls to count. You’d think you could get away with one straight-forward outfit, and you probably could, if you’re happy to be cold and/or wet at some point! The British weather is unpredictable and even more so when you’re trying to pack super light! To compensate, I like to layer up and switch up my outfits to match the weather, down to the minute.

Festival Outfit 1: Midi Dress & Denim Jacket
Before your festival, make a decision: wellies or hiking boots? You’ll only need one pair to see you through grass, mud, and everything in-between. This year, I’ve opted for ankle-high wellies, which I actually love to wear anytime it rains as they’re so comfortable and fit with jeans and trousers too.
I’d also recommend a good midi dress, as it’s the perfect length to sit down in. Think of it as your own wearable picnic blanket! For extra comfort, you can even wear shorts underneath, or bring a pair of tights to layer up with when it gets colder in the evening.
Finally, a jacket. I’ve worn a denim jacket here, that can be slipped on and off or worn around the waist when not needed.

Festival Outfit 2: Barn Jacket & Mini Dress
If a denim jacket doesn’t cut it for you, go for a wax jacket or barn jacket. For a UK festival, I’d recommend a wax jacket for its water resistance, but they can get a bit sticky if it’s hot out. Mine is reserved for overcast days, giving a little extra warmth while being waterproof enough to withstand a light shower or two. Either way, go for a more classic colour and cut, as it’ll last past this year’s trend cycle (see my guide on style over trends for more on this!)
For Day 2, I’ve worn the dress with shorts underneath, and pinned it to a knee-high length for versatility. I’ve also worn a neckerchief (great as a makeshift sun-hat!), and my good old wellies.

Festival Outfit 3: Rain Mac & Welly Boots
On Day 3, it’s a straight swap for my pack-a-mac! No festival experience is complete without surviving a downpour in one of these. Again, I’ve got the midi dress on underneath and my trusty boots. I usually keep a light top, tights, and rain poncho in my bag throughout a festival to keep up with the weather.
This outfit is best for a festival that’s got sun and rain on the go. It reminds me of my first ever festival, T4 On The Beach, where I got soaked through by sideways rain while standing on the beach!
