Hi, I’m Besma
I’m a sustainability writer and creator, dedicated to finding kinder ways to live and dress.
Curiously Conscious is my journal where I cover sustainable fashion, cruelty-free beauty, seasonal food, low-impact living, and eco travel.
I started my blog in 2014, when I was living in Paris. During my time nestled in a tiny sixth-floor flat in Montparnasse, I began to explore the French way of doing things; buying fresh food from the organic market next door, bringing my own bags to the grocers, and buying investment pieces over fast fashion trends.
My time there has inspired my ethos today: to look for the better things in life. That means better for the earth, better for others, and better for myself too. I want every item I own to tell a good story, and to retell them to you here.
Why ‘Curiously Conscious’?
When I started my blog, I wanted to create a place to discover and document new approaches to living sustainably. Curiously Conscious captures that approach, and highlights my enjoyment in learning about the wider impact of almost everything, and how to make more mindful decisions.
Despite the focus on traditional verticals, I think it’s important to note that pruning your lifestyle isn’t the end goal. Instead, I see fashion, beauty, food, and travel as vehicles to communicate the importance of social and environmental sustainability. Being conscious of your own impact is the first step in advocating on behalf of people and planet, and I hope I can inspire you to combine this curiosity with social justice and climate action.
Alongside my posts, you can keep up with me on Instagram and Pinterest, and my charity work with Brighton Fashion Collective.
