Christmas is round the corner! For 2022, I wanted to share sustainable gift ideas with a focus on circularity. (I also dressed up with a “bow” for it!) This year has been full of circular innovations – from fashion resale to refurbished tech – and I truly believe it’s the future of sustainability. So why not choose to give gifts this year that support a more sustainable past, present, and future?
Why Choose A Circular Christmas Gift?
Circularity is the gold-standard of sustainability, in my opinion. In essence, circularity considers the impact of an item from the design stages through to the item’s end-of-life, and works to reduce its impact across each of these. It’s true sustainability, not just another recycled polyester dress.
(You can read more about this in my guide to circular fashion).
In previous years, I’ve curated a wholly second-hand gift guide, listed gifts supporting refugees, and last year I did my his and hers gift guides (although all genders are welcome). This year, I felt that circularity summed up the spirit of 2022, good and bad. And so, this gift guide was born!
Here are the guiding principles of everything I’ve featured in this guide:
- Reclaimed or refurbished: Items are pre-loved and made new once more
- Recycled: Some items are made from recycled materials and/or are recyclable
- Rentable: A few items are available to rent rather than buy
- Second-hand: Some items are one-off, second-hand pieces I’ve found and had to feature
I hope you find some gorgeous gifts for your friends, family, and maybe even yourself!

How To Celebrate The Holidays More Sustainably…
Gifts make up just one part of the holidays. I timed this gift guide to come out alongside Black Friday, to hopefully give you options before you place all your orders.
