Living a sustainable lifestyle or working in the sustainability space? Then you need to hear about the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards!
After years of writing about living a more sustainable lifestyle, I’m so happy to see a set of awards dedicated to the same principles I follow – and more than that, I’m delighted to be joining the extensive judging panel for the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards this year too!
About the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards
The Sustainable Lifestyle Awards are the first of its kind in the UK – they celebrate and promote people and brands who champion people, planet, and profit in equal measure within their work.
Created by Rachel Fortune, Personal Stylist and Content Creator at Style The Sustainable, the awards have been borne out of Rachel’s passion for sustainability, and her aversion to the ill effects of fast fashion.
As there’s just so much to enjoy in the sustainable lifestyle space now, the awards are looking for entrants across the 21 categories, as follows:
- Accessory Brand
- Activewear Brand
- Beauty Brand
- Brand of the Year
- Children’s Brand
- Content Creator of the Year
- Fashion Brand
- Footwear Brand
- Gift & Lifestyle Brand
- Homeware
- Independent Store
- Innovation of the Year
- Jewellery Brand
- Launch of the Year
- Lingerie & Sleepwear Brand
- Online Marketplace
- Person of the Year
- Restaurant of the Year
- Skincare Brand
- Vegan Brand
- People’s Choice
What the judges are looking for…
Earlier this year, I attended the initial judges meeting at the decadent organic café Farmacy in Chelsea to discuss what the judges’ priorities should be when we’re looking over entries to the S.L.A.s.
It was great to hear from fellow judges such as Alice Wilby, Bel Jacobs, Cody Eastmond, Cora Hilts, Elliss Soloman, Khandiz Joni, and Sienna Piccioni on what their priorities were – and it was clear that a balanced approach to style and substance would make for winning entries.
Personally, I would love to see entrants that combine style with substance, but who are also doing this in an inspiring way – who’s leading the pack, and how we can elevate sustainable living to make it something everyone wants to be part of. I’m looking for ideas that consider their environmental impact equal to aesthetics and function, as well as those that are innovative, creative, or do something a little differently.
Want to join me as a judge? You can celebrate your favourite sustainable content creators, restauranteurs, fashion designers and more by contributing to the People’s Choice Award.
How to enter the S.L.A.s
If you’re thinking about entering the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards, I’d recommend having a read of how the awards work, as well as the timelines for entering, and the prizes for each category. I’ll be giving away free consultancy calls to all the winners!
And if you have any questions, feel free to comment here or contact the Sustainable Lifestyle Awards directly. Best of luck!
