With winter on the way, I’ve started to cherish my cosy blankets and my bed a whole lot more. A duvet is probably the most crucial part of the bed, and especially when it comes to swapping it for the warmer, wintry version. But how eco-friendly is yours?
While it may be easy to change up your wardrobe to ethical items, now may be the right time to consider eco-friendly bedding as well – especially if you’re looking to purchase a new one.
Some of the best eco duvets can be found in The Fine Bedding Company‘s new range. Made using materials such as recycled PET from plastic bottles and sustainably sourced cotton, they provide the warmth, quality, and green production that will help us all to sleep better at night! Here are my top picks…
The ECO Duvet
The Fine Bedding Company’s new ECO Duvet is the first luxury duvet made from 100% recycled materials, from the cover to the filling.
Recycled plastic bottles – 120 bottles per double duvet – are used to create a soft, silky microfibre filling. This filling provides a soft, light, and fluffy feel, which is then encased in a soft-touch microfibre cover made from 100% recycled yarn.
These recycled fibres not only help tap into the circular economy, they also replicate the same breathability similar luxury duvets possess; they’re hypoallergenic, and surprisingly can be washed in a domestic washing machine.
And these duvets are made in their eco-friendly factory using 100% renewable energy, and 100% recycled and recyclable packaging.
The ECO Duvet comes in a 10.5 tog variety, which is perfect for Spring and Autumn, and works so well with a blanket or two in winter. It also comes in almost every size you could imagine – single all the way through to superking.
The SMARTDOWN Duvet
If you prefer a down duvet, The Fine Bedding Company has also created the SMARTDOWN duvet. Made without any animal by-products, the duvet is a vegan and cruelty-free alternative to traditional goose down.
The soft, silky fibres that mimic a fine feathery feel are spun from recycled plastic bottles, which are then blown in such a way that they stimulate that same hand-feel and warmth. The fibres are encased in a luxury, sustainably-sourced cotton that has a 280-thread count and is finished by hand.
This duvet is also made in The Fine Bedding Company’s eco-friendly factory using 100% renewable energy, and 100% recycled and recyclable packaging.
The SMARTDOWN Duvet comes in two varieties: medium, for all-year-round, and warm, for the winter. Personally I like a really warm duvet, but it really depends on how you like to snooze!
