Christmas is a time for giving. On the big day, I love nothing more than the look on my family’s faces when they open their presents – it makes all that planning so worthwhile!
Christmas is also a time to give to charity. I routinely donate my unwanted clothes and belongings, but I do feel like I should be doing more. Luckily, there is a hassle free way to do so – switching energy provider to Tonik Energy!
When I first heard about the renewable energy provider’s scheme to donate £100 to charity every time someone is referred, I knew I had to shout about it.
You’ve probably not yet heard of Tonik – they’re an independent electricity provider separate from the Big 6, and they are intent on saving the planet and saving on energy bills too.
When speaking to Tonik, I was impressed to find out that their electricity is 100% renewable. Most of their power comes from solar energy (57%), which is supplemented by anaerobic digestion of waste (43%). It’s great to know that even the items we throw away are going to good use!
Their renewable fuel mix means that for every customer that chooses them, they provide more and more renewable energy into the national grid.
And this Christmas, Tonik is donating £100 to inspirational children’s charity WellChild for every successful refer-a-friend sign up
Helping sick children
WellChild is a national charity that supports seriously ill children, young people and their families. With over 100,000 children and young people living across the UK with serious or exceptional health needs, many are having to spend Christmas in simply because there is no support helping them to leave.
Tonik has chosen to support the charity at this time of year to help more families come together and spend the holiday season at home. They’re aiming to raise £100,000 through referrals, meaning the more people who use their renewable energy, the more help they can give!
Save energy, save money
It’s always hard to talk about energy consumption on the blog when I’m ultimately trying to find ways to reduce my own impact, but this is also one of Tonik’s aims. They want to help their customers reduce the amount of electricity they use, with the bold goal of aiming to halve all of its customers’ energy bills by 2022.
By using smart technology, Tonik is empowering people to see how they are using their energy and the best ways to reduce what’s wasted. Now that’s what I call responsible!
Find out how much you can save, and give to WellChild by inviting your friends to join you too. Visit the Tonik website and go green!
