The Minimalist Jewellery Edit

Ethical Jewellery

When it comes to jewellery, I am so particular. So so so particular! I love minimalist jewellery pieces, and in the last year I’ve switched from gold to silver… and of course, my jewellery has to be ethical.

All these things combined make for quite the search! Luckily, I’ve found a few independent and good quality brands that tick all these boxes, and will leave you happy and shiny rather than sad and with grubby green marks…

Wild Fawn Jewellery

This is my find of the year. Since getting my helix piercing done last year, I’d been yearning for a teeny tiny silver hoop to switch out my regular ring-and-ball. Wild Fawn* has served me so well; they’re a small Etsy* store based in London, and they make eco-friendly jewellery from recycled materials including the silver in my helix hoops* and ear cuff*. Next on my list is to re-pierce my lobes and then I think I’ll be satisfied…

Puck Wanderlust

Continuing with the recycled jewellery vibe is Puck Wanderlust, another independent jewellery boutique that makes the sweetest rings, pendants, and earrings. The teeny midi ring in my images is their Silver Balance Midi Bar Ring, which is just £30 and is cast from 100% recycled sterling silver.

Made

If you prefer to buy your jewellery online through major retailers, Made is your best bet. Stocked on ASOS’s Eco Edit*, you can pick up a cute hand-hammered pendant or set of earrings produced in their African workshop. The ethics behind this brand is their treatment of staff; Made provides stable employment and new skills to Kenyan employees.

So Just Shop

My first piece of ethical jewellery (and my first ethical jewellery post on Curiously Conscious) still holds a dear place in my heart: it’s my recycled brass bangle from So Just Shop. I enjoy wearing it out on special occasions with a black short-sleeved dress, as it’s simple, elegant, and tells a good story.

Artisans + Adventurers

The final stop on my list is Artisans + Adventurers. I popped into their Columbia Road store a little while back and was taken with their assortment of minimal fairly traded rings, as well as their dog Wolfy! While I didn’t pick up any of their pieces, I do think their arrow ring could also perhaps be useful for self-defence!
