Last Thursday I had the pleasure of being one of Ella Mills’ friends at the launch party of her new cookbook, Deliciously Ella with Friends (see what I did there?!)
The night was exactly how you’d imagine – tucked away in the cosy Mae Deli on Weighhouse Street, canapés were ‘clean’, with delightful little brownies, chickpea felafels, and a giant plant-based cake that I will forever lament over.
Congratulations Ella
I started the night with a yummy exotic juice blend and chatted to a few bloggers, business partners and people who know Ella personally about the new book and their involvement. From zero-wasters to journalists, you could tell everyone was just as inspired by Ella and her businesses as I am. I was also lucky enough to grab five minutes with the lovely Lottie Murphy to discuss fitness and diet, and also spied the inspirational Jody Shield in with the crowd.
Once everyone had arrived, we were ushered into the basement (who knew The Mae Deli had a basement?) to hear from Ella herself. It was pretty inspiring – surrounded by fans, family and friends, Ella spoke candidly about her last year where she got married, hit one million followers on Instagram, and wrote yet another book, all the while holding back tears.
Feeling inspired
As a big Deliciously Ella fan, I really enjoyed the night and seeing how Ella remains the same happy and healthy woman with complete humility and integrity, and I look forward to trying out some new recipes in the coming weeks (get ready for lots of new recipe posts!)
